ETS 2 Coaches: Volvo 9700 Double Decker Confirmed
The third coach for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is the biggest one yet. SCS Software has confirmed the Volvo 9700 Double Decker for the Coaches DLC, joining the Scania Touring and the MAN Lion’s Coach.
A high-capacity tourer
The 9700 DD is a familiar sight in Northern Europe, built for comfortable high-capacity intercity travel. Volvo lets operators change the layout and equipment to suit their routes, and with the right configuration it seats up to 96 passengers. That is nearly twice what the Scania Touring carries.
The driver sits high up in a roomy compartment with good visibility, backed by assistance systems such as collision warning with emergency braking and electronic stability control.
The numbers in ETS 2
SCS gives exact dimensions for the in-game coach:
| Volvo 9700 DD in ETS 2 | |
|---|---|
| Configuration | 6×2 |
| Height | 4 m |
| Length | 14.3 m |
| Seats (real coach, max.) | up to 96 |
At four metres tall, low bridges and tight station roofs become something to think about. We would not be surprised if the double-decker turns out to be the hardest coach to bring into some of the older city stations.
Customisation
The 9700 DD gets a selection of official Volvo colours, plus interior choices for curtains and passenger seats. SCS says the options should let you go clean and classic or make the coach stand out.
Three coaches, three brands
With Scania, MAN and now Volvo, the line-up covers three of the best-known coach builders on European roads, and two quite different sizes of vehicle. The screenshots are still work in progress, and SCS has not said whether more models will be ready for launch.
