ETS 2 Coaches: First Look at the Scania Touring

First Look at the Scania Touring

We have seen it in the background of earlier screenshots, and now SCS Software has given it a proper introduction. The Scania Touring is one of the first coaches being built for the Coaches DLC in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

The real coach

Scania launched the Touring in 2009 as a long-distance coach focused on comfort, safety and running costs. It has been a common sight with European operators ever since. Depending on the configuration it seats up to 50 passengers, which puts it in the classic intercity and touring class rather than the high-capacity double-deckers.

The ETS 2 version

SCS is recreating both the exterior and the interior in detail, and the new screenshots show plenty of both. There is the familiar Touring face, the long side profile, the rear end with its light clusters, and a look inside at the driver’s area and the passenger seats. Vehicle artists, designers and programmers are all involved in getting it to SCS’s usual standard.

As with everything Coaches-related so far, this is labelled work in progress. SCS repeats that the Touring is just one of several coaches planned for the DLC. The second confirmed model is the MAN Lion’s Coach, which the team mentioned when it introduced the developers.

Why start with the Touring

For ETS 2 players it is a sensible first pick. Scania has been part of the game since day one, and the Touring is the kind of everyday European coach you would expect to see at a station in Germany or Scandinavia. If the in-game version drives as well as the Scania trucks do, a lot of players will start their coach career right here.
