ATS Road Trip: SCS Records a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody

Grey Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody in the SCS On The Road Project Road Trip episode

The RAM & Dodge Car Pack gets its first SCS On The Road episode. This time the team spent a day with a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody, the clearest hint yet at which Challenger SCS has in mind for the pack.

Sound first

The main job was audio. SCS recorded the car from idle through to full acceleration, the kind of session the studio described in April when it asked owners to lend cars. That list asked for a 2023 Challenger with a 6.2 V8. The team also did a detailed walk-around to collect reference material for the artists rebuilding the car.

A private owner, not a factory car

Unlike the Ford headquarters visit, this Challenger belongs to an enthusiast. Its owner, Marek, gave the team his time, let them record the car in action and talked about what it is like to own one and about cars in general. SCS points viewers to his Instagram and YouTube channel, with a warning that they are in Czech.

Our take

The Widebody is a smart choice for a game that runs on screenshots and videos as much as on driving: the flared arches and the wide stance are what people picture when they hear the name. SCS has not yet said which engine or trim the in-game car will use, so treat this as reference work rather than a final spec. Still, an episode built almost entirely around the sound of the car says a lot about where the team thinks a muscle car’s character comes from.
