ATS Road Trip: SCS Visits Ford Headquarters in New Video

Two months after revealing the Ford Car Pack, SCS Software has shown where a good part of its reference material came from. The latest SCS On The Road episode follows the team to the Ford Motor Company World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.

Who went and what they did

Nemiro, Oscar, Mark, Matej and Ondřej spent the day photographing, filming and recording sound from a range of Ford vehicles, which SCS describes as old, new and special. The visit was cold, by the studio’s own account, but productive.

The team also met Matthew Korczyk, Vehicle Coordinator at Ford Performance Parts, and Matt Leaver, a Product Development Specialist at Ford. Leaver went a step further and lent SCS his own Bronco to photograph and record.

Why it is worth a watch

Most car DLC news is screenshots and spec lists. This is the other side of the job: microphones, cameras and a team walking around a car to understand how it is put together. It shows the same approach SCS described in April, when it asked owners to lend cars for sound recording, only this time with the manufacturer opening the doors. Having Ford’s own staff and vehicles involved is a good sign for how closely the cars in the pack will follow the real ones.
