ATS Road Trip: Ford Car Pack Revealed as the First Car DLC

Three months after the Road Trip announcement, the project has its first named DLC. SCS Software has revealed the Ford Car Pack for American Truck Simulator, with four vehicles that cover almost six decades of Ford history.

The four Fords

VehicleHow SCS describes it
1967 Ford Mustanga legendary pony car
2023 Ford F-150the all-purpose pickup
2023 Ford Broncothe modern off-roader
1998–2012 Ford Crown Victoriaa legendary full-size sedan

The line-up matches the Ford part of the list SCS published in April, when it asked owners to lend cars for sound recording. The F-150 Raptor from that list is not mentioned in the pack.

SCS is careful to say that the details are not settled. Engine configurations and trim options for each vehicle are still being finalised and will be confirmed later.

Only two cars on show so far

The first screenshots show just the Mustang and the Bronco. The Mustang, a red fastback with chrome bumpers and the pony badge in the grille, gets most of the attention, with close-ups of the rear lights and the lettering across the tail. The Bronco appears as a light blue four-door, once on tarmac and once on a dirt trail. The F-150 and the Crown Victoria will have to wait for a later post.

The pack unlocks the mode

The most useful detail for players is how Road Trip will be delivered. When the Ford Car Pack comes out, owning it, or any other Road Trip vehicle pack, gives you access to the Road Trip gameplay module. In other words, the cars and the new way of playing come together, and the mode is tied to buying at least one pack. SCS has not given a price or a date.

Our take

Ford is an obvious first partner for a game set in the American West, and the selection is well judged: one classic to cruise in, one pickup most players will know, one off-roader and one sedan that half the internet associates with police and taxi work. SCS thanks Ford for its trust and collaboration, and the pack can already be added to a Steam wishlist.
