ATS Road Trip: 1967 Ford Mustang Gameplay Preview
Five weeks after the F-150 got the first Road Trip gameplay video, SCS Software has handed the second one to the car many players were really waiting for. The new preview puts the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback on the road in American Truck Simulator, and it is the first time we have seen the classic moving rather than posing for screenshots.
Carson City to Yosemite
The drive starts in Carson City, Nevada, and heads into Yosemite National Park. Mountain roads give the Mustang corners to work through, and SCS says the run is meant to show its performance and driving dynamics, not only its fastback lines.
There is a tease too. The video includes a first look at one of Road Trip’s new exploration mechanics, which the blog post does not name.
Still a work in progress
As with the F-150 preview, SCS labels everything here as very much work in progress. It names the vehicle sounds and driving behaviour in particular as things that will be refined before release. For a 1960s muscle car that matters more than usual. The studio recorded real Mustang engine audio with help from Veteráni na Truc, as it explained when it first showed the car in April.
Our take
The F-150 video was a relaxed drive ending on a dirt road. This one has a harder job: making a car built almost sixty years ago feel right on ATS roads. We will be watching how much the handling changes before launch. The Ford Car Pack still has no release date.
