ETS 2 Coaches First Gameplay: MAN Lion's Coach From Duisburg to Rotterdam

A year after announcing it, SCS Software has finally shown the Coaches DLC being played. The first gameplay video for Euro Truck Simulator 2 puts us behind the wheel of the MAN Lion’s Coach on a route from Duisburg to Rotterdam.

What the video shows

The run crosses from Germany into the Netherlands, which is a good choice for a first look: city stations at both ends, motorway in between and a border along the way. The main thing to watch is the passenger satisfaction mechanic in its current form, which we described in detail when SCS first explained it. Now you can see how your driving feeds into it on a real route.

It is also the best look yet at the Lion’s Coach itself. SCS recaps the basics: MAN’s D26 engine for long-distance work, large windows, a well-arranged seating layout and a clean, roomy interior. The studio says it picked the Lion’s Coach as the ideal vehicle for the first preview.

Still not final

SCS is clear that the footage is work in progress. Features, visuals and mechanics may change before release, so treat the interface and the numbers you see as a snapshot rather than the finished product.

Our impression

After a year of screenshots and interviews, it is good to see the pieces working together. The pace of the video says a lot: you brake earlier, take corners more gently and plan ahead in a way that trucking rarely demands. If you were unsure whether coaches would feel different enough from trucks, this is the video to watch.
