ATS Road Trip: Ford Crown Victoria Walk-Around Video

The community appeal SCS Software made last spring has produced another result. When the studio asked owners for help with reference material and sound recordings, the Crown Victoria was on the Ford list, and a player named Marcel from Germany answered. The new SCS On The Road episode is a walk-around of his car.

A real ex-police car

Marcel owns a Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor, a former supervisor’s car that still wears much of its police-spec detail. The video spends its time on exactly that: the shape, the fittings and the small things that made the Crown Vic the default image of an American police car and, in other liveries, a yellow cab.

SCS also used the visit to record the car’s sounds, which the studio says will matter as work on Road Trip continues.

Not quite the car you will drive

One detail worth keeping in mind: the version SCS described in November is the civilian 2006+ base Crown Victoria, not the Interceptor itself, though it borrows the Interceptor’s blacked-out look. Marcel’s P71 is a close relative, which makes it a good source for sound and reference, and SCS already said it expects modders to turn the car into taxis and police cruisers anyway.

The Crown Victoria is part of the Ford Car Pack.
