ATS Road Trip: Atlas Feature Gets Its Own Video Trailer

ATS Road Trip Atlas feature trailer artwork with a map of the western US, postcards and car keys

A week after explaining Atlas in writing, SCS Software has put the feature on video. The new trailer for American Truck Simulator’s Road Trip shows the exploration system in more detail, and moving pictures are a better way to judge it than a list of menus.

A quick recap

Atlas is built on Tourist Boards. Find one and it uncovers a set of Points of Interest, Viewpoints and Photo Trophies in the region around it. Visit them all and you earn a postcard designed for that area. We went through the details, including the live camera views and the states covered at launch, in our Atlas breakdown.

Who can use it

SCS repeats the two points that matter most. Atlas only unlocks for players who own a Road Trip DLC, either the Ford Car Pack or the RAM & Dodge Car Pack. And once you have it, it is not limited to cars, so you can work through Tourist Boards from a truck cab too.

Our take

Two posts on Atlas in two weeks tells us SCS sees it as a main pillar of Road Trip rather than a side extra. For anyone still unsure what cars would add to a trucking game, this trailer is the clearest answer so far: a reason to take the slow road and stop now and then.
