ETS 2’s New Electric Truck Scania S BEV Released
The Scania S BEV electric truck has been released for Euro Truck Simulator 2 in a free update. You can play with the Scania 40 S and 45 S battery-electric vehicles by selecting them from the Quick Jobs menu.
The Scania 40 S and 45 S vehicles in ETS 2 are based on the Scania S series with a 4×2 chassis. The vehicle features a six-speed transmission combined with three electric motors that deliver a continuous power output of 400/450 kW (540/610 hp). It has a battery capacity of 624 kWh and can travel up to 520 kilometers on a single trip, depending on the gross trailer weight.
In the interior, there are a few special modifications for the electric model. These include BEV-specific gauges, a Blind Spot Warning System placed on the A-pillars, an electronic parking brake, and some small changes on the driver’s dashboard.
A special livery for the Scania S BEV called “Glacier White and Blue Gradient” is being introduced, featuring the text “100% Electric & Take Charge.”
While you can’t own the vehicle yet, various mods are being released for that purpose. As mentioned before, the transition to electric vehicles presents unique challenges in the virtual worlds of ETS 2 and ATS. The SCS team continues working to support electric vehicle infrastructure. Gas stations designed for traditional fuel-powered vehicles can’t easily be converted into electric charging stations without major changes.
For now, you can use the electric trucks in the Quick Jobs menu with delivery distances limited to 350 km. If you run out of charge on the road, you can use the F7 service menu to get an emergency charging service.
After installing the update, the in-game economy is not reset, so it may take some time for the new electric Scania truck to appear in the Quick Jobs list. You can advance the in-game time to make the Scania 40 S and 45 S vehicles show up.
