The final blog post for the upcoming Greece DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 has been shared. With the Greece DLC releasing on December 4th, five unique hotel resort areas are being introduced. We will be able to make deliveries to these resorts with trucks. In fact, travel and tourism play an important role in the Greek economy. In 2023, Greece welcomed over 32 million visitors, many of whom stayed at such hotels. For the first time, we see large hotel resorts in this level of detail, and we can deliver cargo to them
Hotel Resorts
In ETS2’s Greece DLC, we will be able to deliver to five special hotel depots while traveling. To provide insights into the development process, Adrien, who is in charge of the project, says, “All of the hotels in this DLC are based on real locations, and each one is unique.” Players will also be able to find the real-life counterparts of these hotels. However, one hotel reference located in Rhodes had to be moved to Lesbos due to size limitations. The biggest challenge in this project was that custom depots were a new technology for ETS2. This was mentioned in previous blog posts. At the time, they didn’t have the advanced procedures they use today and learned a lot throughout the process.
Adrien continues his explanation. Researching hotels and selecting specific locations was particularly challenging because some locations lacked the necessary space for gameplay. To address this, they had to adjust the designs to ensure there was enough room for parking spots of varying difficulty levels while preserving the scenic charm of Greek hotels. Additionally, when designing the hotels, they focused on making the challenging parking spots even more difficult compared to other depots.
