With the Euro Truck Simulator 2 – 1.53 update, the highly anticipated Volvo FH Series 4 truck is being refreshed. Five cities in Germany, including the capital Berlin, are being rebuilt. The update also includes automatic camera centering and some interface improvements.

Germany Rework

The Germany rework project concludes with the 1.53 update, which brings the rebuild of Berlin, Munich, Mannheim, Leipzig, and Dresden. The SCS team has successfully raised all cities and highways in Germany to DLC-level standards. Each city and its surroundings, including famous landmarks, have been meticulously rebuilt with great detail.

Volvo FH Series 4 Rework

With the 1.53 update, the Volvo FH Series 4 truck is being completely refreshed after many years. The new Volvo FH truck was actually announced around two years ago, with the first phase including an updated version of the old truck model. The SCS team designed the renewed version of the older model using CAD data, making the model dimensions and other details much closer to reality. Various fenders, bumpers, spoilers, and other details were also revised. The cockpit textures and materials have been updated to match new Volvo standards.

The Volvo FH Tuning Pack DLC is also receiving an update, with all parts now compatible with the new changes. Additionally, a 25th Anniversary livery for the Volvo FH has been added. Further improvements may come throughout the open beta, and you can submit your feedback here.

When will the new Volvo FH arrive? The SCS team has not made any announcements. However, we are likely to see the new truck after 1.53 is completed.

Options QoL improvement

Improvements continue in the options menu following the new interface update. When changing an option with a default value, players will now see a visual indicator whenever a setting is adjusted or moved from its default state. Options set away from their default values will now appear with a small indicator next to the setting, making it easier to identify which settings have been changed from the default.

Smooth and Auto Camera Centring

With the 1.53 update, Automatic Camera Centering is coming to ETS 2. Players can now activate this new option, which automatically centers the camera after moving it, with various settings. For example, automatic centering can be set to durations between 1 to 5 seconds. If you turn the camera to the right with your mouse, it will automatically center back to the rear of the vehicle after 3 seconds. You can also set it to recenter instantly, quickly, moderately, or slowly. Players using head-tracking devices can disable this feature entirely, and it doesn’t come enabled by default after installing the update.

With the 1.53 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2, the capital of Germany, Berlin, is getting a complete overhaul. The screenshots shared by SCS Software showcase a completely redesigned Berlin, looking as detailed as a DLC-quality city.

Previously, as part of the Germany rework project, it was announced that Munich, Dresden, Leipzig, and Mannheim would also be revamped. With the 1.53 update, all these cities, including the capital, will be renewed. The update seems likely to be released before the end of the year.

Players making deliveries to this reconstructed city will have the opportunity to drive past famous landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Blauer Obelisk, the Victory Column Monument, and Museum Island. You’ll also see St. Mary’s Church, the Fernsehturm (Berlin TV Tower), and Alexanderplatz along the way.

For the industries represented in Berlin, they have been split into two distinct areas. In the northern part of the capital, you’ll find a chemical plant, oil depot, and container yard, which are part of the historical buildings connected to the port.

In the southern part of the city, you will pass by the Internationales Congress Centrum and the newly rebuilt Messe Berlin (Trade Fair Grounds). Here, you will also find your purchasable garage and quiet residential neighborhoods along the river.

With the 1.53 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2, the cities of Munich, Mannheim, Leipzig, and Dresden in Germany are being rebuilt. Although the release date for the update has not yet been announced, we hope it will be released by the end of the year. This way, four more German cities in ETS 2 will reach DLC-level quality. While the 1.52 update hasn’t even been released yet, a feature of the 1.53 version has already been announced.

Munich, Mannheim, Leipzig, and Dresden are historically significant cities as well. They will be completely rebuilt with both iconic buildings and brand-new road networks. The SCS Software team has now moved on to the eastern side with these cities. In the north, we are also expecting the renovation of Berlin. Let’s see when that will be announced.

München

Whilst truck drivers will be unable to visit the historical part of München (for now…), drivers will find a completely new industry area located north of the western junction (Roads 99/304), which features a new garage and new truck dealers. This includes a very well known car manufacturer which has its HQ here, which is featured alongside some new and existing landmarks.

Mannheim 

 

Mannheim is the city of inventions! As the birthplace of the car, the bicycle and the tractor, it continues to be a centre of innovation and progress today. Because of this, the city has a rich cultural and economic heritage. You won’t only find the city reworked, but also the whole surrounding area. This includes the addition of a part of the Bundesautobahn 6.

Industry-wise, you’ll find the HQ of the largest chemical producer in the world, and a petroleum industry location. We’ve also added in the north-west a new junction which now leads to the L527 road. With this addition, our rework team was also able to squeeze in the village of Maxdorf. You’ll also find some familiar roads and industries which have been reworked, such as the R1 road which leads to the sawmill and quarry.

Leipzig 

 

Arts, culture, music and more, Leipzig has it all! Whilst a relatively small city, there is still plenty for truckers to explore here, including a variety of historical landmarks, including the Opera House, which was opened in 1693, the University of Leipzig, which is one of the world’s oldest universities and the the Leipzig Hauptbahnhof (Train Station), which at the time of its opening was one of the largest in the world!

If you’re living in Europe and received a package, chances are that it has travelled through Leipzig Airport! As one of the top four cargo hubs in Europe, thanks to its round-the-clock operations, its freight volume totals more than 1.4 million tons a year. We’re happy to have the opportunity to include this major delivery point for our players in this rework.

Dresden 

 

As the capital of the Saxony, Dresden has a variety of museums, historical relics and features some of the most fantastic Baroque architecture in Germany. Our team has reworked the city and the road network which truckers most frequently use around it. You’ll find plenty of landmarks in the area, as well as art murals which can be found on the viaducts across Dresden.
