]]> The final blog post for the upcoming Greece DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 has been shared. With the Greece DLC releasing on December 4th, five unique hotel resort areas are being introduced. We will be able to make deliveries to these resorts with trucks. In fact, travel and tourism play an important role in the Greek economy. In 2023, Greece welcomed over 32 million visitors, many of whom stayed at such hotels. For the first time, we see large hotel resorts in this level of detail, and we can deliver cargo to them

Hotel Resorts

In ETS2’s Greece DLC, we will be able to deliver to five special hotel depots while traveling. To provide insights into the development process, Adrien, who is in charge of the project, says, “All of the hotels in this DLC are based on real locations, and each one is unique.” Players will also be able to find the real-life counterparts of these hotels. However, one hotel reference located in Rhodes had to be moved to Lesbos due to size limitations. The biggest challenge in this project was that custom depots were a new technology for ETS2. This was mentioned in previous blog posts. At the time, they didn’t have the advanced procedures they use today and learned a lot throughout the process.

Adrien continues his explanation. Researching hotels and selecting specific locations was particularly challenging because some locations lacked the necessary space for gameplay. To address this, they had to adjust the designs to ensure there was enough room for parking spots of varying difficulty levels while preserving the scenic charm of Greek hotels. Additionally, when designing the hotels, they focused on making the challenging parking spots even more difficult compared to other depots.

 

BIG in Greece

Special Transport operations are expanding! Drivers looking for speciality work in the Greece DLC will be pleased to know that oversized loads will be on offer in the Job Market.

Special Transport DLC owners will find contracts on offer between the following cities:

Athens to Athens 
Thessaloniki to Trikala 
Ioannina to Vlore (West Balkans DLC required)

The Greece DLC will be released for Euro Truck Simulator 2 on December 4, 2024.

]]> Exploring Trikala in Euro Truck Simulator 2’s Greece DLC: A Glimpse into History and Industry

The upcoming Greece DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 promises to bring players a detailed recreation of one of Greece’s most historic cities—Trikala(Τρίκαλα). Built on the ancient town of Trikki, which dates back to around 3,000 BC, Trikala is a city rich in history and culture. Known for its narrow streets and historic neighborhoods, this city has been an integral part of Greek civilization for thousands of years.

While truckers won’t be able to navigate through the city center due to its maze of ancient streets, the northern and eastern outskirts of Trikala have been faithfully recreated, offering plenty of opportunities for delivery contracts. SCS Software’s team has focused on capturing the essence of the city’s surrounding areas, where drivers will find a variety of industries to deliver to and from.

 

A Closer Look at the Eastern Outskirts

In the eastern outskirts of Trikala, truckers will discover an industrial zone that’s bustling with activity. This area is home to several key facilities, including logistics depots, warehouses, and even a supermarket, all designed to mirror their real-world counterparts. Drivers passing through this part of the city will also enjoy stunning views of the nearby mountain range, adding a touch of scenic beauty to their journey.

Agriculture and More in the Northern Area

To the north of Trikala lies the agricultural sector, where truckers will find grain silos and other farming-related industries. Agriculture has long been a key part of Trikala’s economy, and SCS Software has taken great care to reflect this in the Greece DLC. In addition to the familiar industries, there’s also a brand-new industry making its debut in Trikala, though the details on this remain a mystery for now—SCS is saving that reveal for a future blog post!

Why Trikala is a Must-Visit in the Greece DLC

Though truckers won’t venture into Trikala’s historic heart, the recreated outskirts provide ample opportunities for work and exploration. From the industrial zones to the agricultural fields, this city offers a diverse range of industries to engage with, making it a key location for anyone hauling goods across Greece. Plus, the attention to detail in recreating the city’s surroundings ensures that players will feel immersed in the rich history and culture that Trikala embodies.
